Port Bay Road

A productive west-side stop combining dry roadside habitat with access to a quieter corner of Port Bay.

Port Bay Road is one of the better sites for birders who like broad habitat transitions in one stop. The scrub and grassland along the road can turn up sparrows, shrikes, roadrunners, and raptors, while the bay side may add pelicans, waders, and other coastal birds. It has a distinctly wilder feel than the town sites and can be especially attractive for winter touring.
